I just made the post about insurance, and it got me thinking about our day, and when I looked at the calender we are 398 days away. We have a few things set up, and ideas and inspiration. Not a ton of pictures under the cut.
To catch everyone up, I'm Shana, He's Joe. And our son, Elijah. This picture is from Christmas time.
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Date: 10/2/2010
Budget: 6,000$
My dress: I went shopping three times. This dress wasn't even a consideration at first, because I thought I wanted something totally different. I went by myself the first time, and this was the last dress I tried on. It became the base for our "theme" for our wedding. This picture is not of me, I won't take a picture of myself in the dress for awhile. I have a large bust, like in the picture, but my waist is not that tiny.
There is a fake flower thing on the side that I will be removing, and my mom is purchasing a light blue brooch. I don't think we have any in the family to pass down. Its in my color scheme and my something blue.
Additional attire: I am not having a veil, or head piece unless I can find a not so flashy headband (NOT TIARA). Something with three lines, but that is going ot be worked out closer to the wedding. I am not sure of ceremony shoes but my reception shoes are going to be customized baby blue chucks, with our date on them.
Garter: I have to admit I got this idea from this community, but it works great for me and FH. We met in Pittsburgh, and it is his hometown, and we both love it and the Steelers. We go to a Steeler's game each year (we would go to more if we could afford it). Gamedays have no plans, and we both watch it, and scream at the TV.
Color Scheme and Theme: Our colors are Baby Blue (think AA's Robin's Egg Blue) Black and accents of White. Our Theme is Simple but Elegant. Not too much taking up the tables, taking up anything.
Bridal Party and Attire: Our wedding party is very small. On my side, my best friend Carlee is my MOH. We have been friends for over 12 years. My sister is my only BM. My stepdaughter is going to be a junior BM. FH has selected a highschool best friend, nicknamed Scooter, for his Best Man and a friend that used to be our neighbor, Keith for his only Groomsman. Our son will be about 2.5 years old on our wedding and will be our ringbearer.
We have not begun considering their attire. We really have to find time to get everyone together, and both the men are 250 miles away. My sister works two jobs, and my MOH is available whenever, but she has the perfect body, so we can throw her into anything.
Location: The ceremony location has not been decided. We are considering a park locally that has this view:
It is the city capital, and at sundown it looks great! So around 6PM when we would be taking pictures it would look incredible! The only problem, is the weather. In October, weather can be 75 degrees, or 45. And it with that it will be perfect, or pouring... thats Pennsylvania for ya.
Reception: We are having the reception at a local microbrewery.
http://www.abcbrew.com/harrisburg/banq_info.htm# If you take a look at their website there is a picture of their gallery, and you can do a Virtual Tour. The gallery is a "back room" off their main upstairs bar. It closes and can hold up to 150 people with a nice dance floor. We are having about 125 people so its gonna be nice and spacious. It has a very loft style feel. Another perk, is my sister has worked for the brewery for 6 years, and my family have been friends with the owner's since they opened. We are getting a great discount on the place, on top of the fact that they were already within our budget!!!
Food: They have different style foods, but I think we are going kind of basic three choice buffett, or a German themed. This brewery has great food either way.
Centerpieces: Our inspiration, we have a shorter vase, also square. Using hydrangeas we will also have a few stems of gerberas or carnations probably in white.
Music, photography, attending's gifts, STDs, Invitations and favors are all up in the air. We obviously have time to hammer them out. All of these we have ideas on who, or where or what, but its stuff we still haven't 100% completed.
Makeup and Hair is not even considered AT ALL right now.
Honeymoon: Depending on the football schedule, the day or following week our Honeymoon will start at a Steeler's game, and not in my dad's ticketholder seats. Great seats. Then off to somewhere, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or somewhere nice and Carribean.
