Ribbon roses!

Jul 06, 2009 09:28

Just wanted to share the ribbon roses that we (my mom, FMIL, twin sister/MOH, 1 of my bridesmaids, and FH) made. It was so much fun and it is kind of hard to believe this is after a solid 4 or so hours of work (well, my bridesmaid didn't arrive at the beginning so she was only there for about an hour, but still). There's still a lot to be done ( Read more... )

flowers: do-it-yourself, do it yourself, flowers: alternative, flowers, flowers: artificial

I actually found a link from someone in this community :) clickclick_bang posted here a while ago and I looooved them. She made hers bigger than we did haha, but her original post and link to instructables.com video on making them.

It was a lot of fun but definitely picks up as you learn how to do it. Well, maybe it isn't like that for everyone, but I haven't crafted something by hand or used a needle in probably 8 years XD; My fiance turned out to be the star of the afternoon and was making them much better, much faster, than almost anyone else there haha.

How long of a ribbon did you need for each rose? Also, what width? Thanks!

We used mostly 1.5" (the wired ones you can see that are the peach color are 2" and would have worked just fine if they were all that big... I would not use anything smaller than 1.5" though) and I think it was about 1 yard/rose (varied a bit since we weren't all cutting the ribbon at exactly that, but I think that's about the average) :)

Those look awesome! I would totally do that instead of real flowers if I had the patience. :P

Haha, the thing that eventually drove me to do it was the price! We can make hundreds of these little buggers (well, each rose... not bouquets haha) and I bought about $50 of ribbon from bbcrafts.com :x

Thank you! It was tons of fun making them. I'm not normally a "craftsy" person but I have been wishing I could work on them all day while I've been at work XD
