I've started thinking about registries today. It's very nearby. All of your answers are in the page's FAQ, in fact. ;)

The site charges a 7.5% service fee. Money is deposited into your bank account.

I don't know if anyone here has tried it though, so hopefully you can get someone's direct opinion on the service. :)

Most people I have spoken to find this incredibly rude and tacky.

Everything is tacky to someone! That's the awesome thing about weddings. ;)

I think I am totally going to do this. We're packing up and moving to the other side of the world 2 months after the wedding and could do without putting stuff straight into storage. I doubt most of our friends would care about a honeymoon registry.

The honeymoon: registry tag might help answer some of your questions. Good luck!

To save your guests all the fees associated with honeymoon registries, why not just have your wedding party and parents let people know that you'd appreciate cash to put toward a honeymoon if people ask about gifts. You might also want to consider a small traditional wedding registry so people who don't want to give cash can buy you something you like and hey- who doesn't need new sheets or towels or a few pieces of nicer cookware?

I agree with this. We're planning on asking for $ to support a remodel of our kitchen as we already own our house and have it fully furnished (in addition to a few items on a normal registry for those who want to give a gift, but not money). But it seems like your family would rather give you all the $, not 92.5% of their money.
