Honeymoon paranoia + Invites

After doing what I thought was enough research, we booked our honeymoon in January. FH really wanted to go to Fiji, but for what he wanted it would have been too much $$$ so we ended up booking through Sandals. We're going to St. Lucia for 2 weeks, 9/28-10/11 and I'm so excited but recently I've been getting freaked out ( Read more... )

Haha, if the Caribbean is anything like Florida, then I'll second this. Born and raised in the"sunshine state," this is exactly what happens every summer. Gets to where you can set your watch to it. ;)

Besides, there aren't supposed to be too many storms this year, much less hurricanes. July and August are the worst months.

The weather where I live (in central IL) has been really messed up. Today's been our first nice day in a few weeks so it got me thinking it the weather is jacked up here gawd knows what it would be like on the island.

that's good to know though that there aren't many storms predicted. whew

Did you get travel insurance? If not, you might consider it.

for the resort yes, but the flight is non-refundable.

If there's a hurricaine, lots of airlines will refund you anyway. We had "non-refundable" Southwest tickets to New Orleans to go to a wedding, but then Gustav hit, the wedding was postponed, and we got our money back. Even if they won't do a refund, a lot of places seem to at least do airline credit. But I'd check out the official policy.

I went to Jamaica in mid-October a few years ago and it rained quite a bit during the week.

Get travel insurance - even if the flight is non-refundable, the insurance should cover that - or at the very least the changes to the flight.

yay we are going to St.Lucia too! But we are leaving next monday. the hurricane season scares the crap out of me. I would check with your airline about refunds and such just in case.

We were looking at St. Lucia today, although it's likely that we'll reconsider, as the prices have gone up, while they're going down for many places we like about as much. I was concerned about the hurricanes too, but my fiance reasearched it, and told me St. Lucia hasn't had a hurricane since 1960's. I hope this puts your mind at rest.
