I'd be worried about time to get to the lake, fish, get home, shower, get ready... I dunno. Maybe it's because I had a morning wedding I think in a time crunch?

I think he should go, but not the morning of the wedding.

Seconding this. Your FH should make the effort to spend time with your Dad before the wedding but I don't see why it can't be a week before the day (or even a couple of days beforehand).
