I've been meaning to do this for a while, but today is the only time I've been feeling productive enough. You see, it has come to my attention that a lot of people don't know what Umineko No Naku Koro Ni is. This could be due to several factors, either the anime's lack of popularity or sense-making, the relatively unknown status of the much-better ( Read more... )

Umineko is seriously considered unknown? It seems like everyone and their mother is talking about it.

Really? Well, I guess what I mean is that not a lot of people have seen it, or played the games. At least as far as I know.

It could just be the crowd I hang out in or something...but there's a huge cast of it in Amat, and most of my flist is into it. In fact I've gotten to where I have total Hype Aversion to it.

Well, don't let the hype make you avoid it. I know you're probably tired of hearing this, but it really is a good series, lack of sense-making aside.

I have a feeling it's a good show, but probably not in my taste XD;; See, I'm the type of person that thinks that Gurren Lagann is THE BEST SHOW EVAR KTHXBAI 8DDDDDD.....And I'm guessing that kind of person, knowing what Gurren Lagann is and its core spirit, might not be so into the Higurashi/Umineko sort of thing? ^^;;

Well, in spite of the horrible violence/depressingness/general nightmare fuel, Umineko has a pretty optimistic core, and it definitely has it's ROW ROW FIGHT DA POWAH moments.

For the record, I can't stand horror/grotesque shows/anime/etc. But... Umineko did not bother me. I had to close my eyes a few times during the anime, but that's not the same as the VNs.

Anyway, A++

I'm with Haley on how it doesn't seem like it's under the radar or unknown, but like she said, that's because there's a really big cast in Amat who talk about Umineko a lot. And I have a friend from there who's positively obsessed with it, as well as a few people on my f-list who talk about it a lot, too.

I guess it's who I hang out with. I play Beatrice over at capeandcowl and no one there knows her canon.

Yeah, it can depend on the game. I played Battler at sortinghat_rp for a short time, but he had no castmates to play with there and pretty much no one knew his canon.

Hmm.

Have you considered looking for castmates or games with castmates on dear_mun? Quite a few of them post on there.

All do you say here is good. I'm obsessed with umineko so you do not need to tell me about it. I think it have a bit few bad things really.

1- When you want to get the novels try to do it in holidays or something because it can be fatal if you try it at exam time for example.

2- You would probably start to deny everything and start to rationalize everything strange you see. that might be a problem

But it has too many good things. So the best thing is to read it.
