Big day!

Today I had the first meeting of my comprehensive exam committee. In 40 minutes, we had decided I was ready, approved my proposed topic, and set a due date of August 3.

Two hours later, I sent off the first draft of my job description for a fellowship I am developing.

Realize I suck at academia processes:

The first means that you get to defend your thesis August 3rd?

The second means you are writing your own job?

I turn in the written portion of the comprehensive exam August 3rd. Sometime between August 10 and 31st, I take my oral exam. This is the transition between grad student and doctoral candidate. My expected thesis defense is December 2014.

I am totally writing my own job.
