As it falls away, you realize you have been fighting through years

Happy New Year, everyone! :D

1. I've finally stopped traveling, and am now warmly and safely ensconced at home. 2011! It's not so weighty as 2010 nor anywhere near as neat, but it's the Year of the Rabbit and that does seem to mean something for us, Class of the Births of 1987. What have we become since twelve years ago-- do we like all the ways ( Read more... )

writing is a product of anxiety, the tag for everything else

I don't know about writing because I'm a crap writer and I'm kind of afraid to show people how exactly how crappy it is haha

But you're amazing and apparently so is your mother and your professors. Happy new years! Try spinach with Long Island (?) dressing. Best thing ever.

I'm sure you aren't...! But on the other hand, you're a really talented artist, so would it be fair if you were an awesome writer too-- I DON'T KNOW, WOULDN'T IT PROBABLY BE UNFAIR? SHOULDN'T YOU BE SHARING SOME OF YOUR GREATNESS!

Hahaha my mother is so proud of her complete rationality that she won't even listen when I try to tell her that she can't possibly be as rational as she makes herself out to be ;___; What is in Long Island dressing, by the by?! Tell me! And tell me what I might call you, new friend? ♥

Call me keelain or shu haha

It's actually thousand island. Sorry I was blanking out yesterday.

I don't have writing skills esp since I don't practice! Which is why I'm always in awe of you guys. I can write for school but fanfiction would kill me haha

I like Shu! Hello, Shu *___*

Ahaha I have some long-lasting trauma with thousand island dressing that involves a flu, a huge hamburger, and copious amounts of tears... but I am sure that if I didn't, it would taste great with spinach...

That's true, those are pretty different kinds of writing. But it's never too late to start writing, of course! :D

9. FUCK YEAH /MOTHERLY PRIDE

I like your resolution a lot. It is the one thing I don't love about your writing - your anxiety over it. Not to say anyone can produce a perfect, anxiety-free piece of work (writing or otherwise), but I think something even more amazing is produced when you can tell that a creator genuinely loves and is proud of their creation and is secure in that. It's a narcissism in a way, but a good one. (Kind of like a parent to a child, maybe? You can see their faults but you're going to love them and be proud of them no matter what, dammit. They're mine.)

I WILL ALSO EXERCISE REGULARLY MEI! I... I had an apple after dinner today, so far so good right?! >:| WATCH ME MA

That's a really great point, I think there's a clear way you can apply the importance of unconditional love to writing and creation in general-- yeah, I think that maybe parents are able to love their children unconditionally because they can see the kids as people, whole and valuable beyond their strengths and weaknesses, and that's the way we should approach ourselves and our output! WE ARE BEAUTIFUL ;___; NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY ;___; MEI WORDS CAN'T BRING US DOWN!!! I love the new year so much. It's like you can do anything.

Seems to me there are oh-so-many of us that suffer from the impostor syndrome. I've known for a long time that I personally do, and just knowing that fact has helped me deal with it, at least with my own reactions in certain cases.

For me, you are one of the best writers in the fandom. You are a wordsmith, but more than that, you weave our emotions so masterfully that I am always left in awe after a particular sentense, phrase -- hell, even just a word, properly applied.

I understand what you're going through. Know that we're all here to support you and reassure you when you need it. You are a marvel.

Happy New Year! May it recharge you with the energy of the rabbit! <3

i'm not sure how much weight it carries at all -- but you're a wonderful writer, even if it's something you don't feel very often. unfortunately, self doubt is a crushing thing. ):
