Also, this:
Harvey’s challenges are live action. No practice rounds of Russian roulette, only real cliffs to run right off of if he miscalculates. Sometimes Harvey is there reaching out a hand and sometimes, especially in Mike’s fitful few hours of sleep between leaving the office and going back to it, Harvey just gives a little wave as Mike falls.

Is a piece of genius.

OH YAY! thank you. this story was strangely hard to write - i couldn't quite figure out how ridiculous vs serious it wanted to be. so i'm glad that part worked and that you liked it!!

i spent a lot of time debating whether Harvey would say no, he's not a Republican, though then I realized the chance of him not voting for Bloomberg are slim, and they i decided either way Harvey would say being a gentleman means not arguing about politics with the associate you're obviously in love with.

A week ago Mike didn't even know Harvey could hug a guy! Aahhh, every part of this is satisfying each time I read it.

And I don't think I commented on it before, but this bit:

Harvey stiffens, that icy determination that is his only real tell. Mike really is right about this.

He touches Harvey’s wrist. “I’m really not going anywhere.” A slow thaw spreads across Harvey’s features, and Mike leans in to kiss him quickly.

“You wouldn’t get far in those shorts,” Harvey says.

The way that works is so great, because Harvey admits something without admitting anything, which is so him, but also it's clear that, yes, Mike can read Harvey. He proves that he's learning to read Harvey well, and all of that comes across so clearly but still has that note of humor, and it's great. \o/
