I'm running through my dvd discs of the West Wing. Season 2 has been on the menu this past week. I just started Season 3 today.

This series drives me crazy. I adore it. I would marry it.

Well, maybe not. I'm just sayin'.

Episodes like "Two Cathedrals" and "Isaac and Ishmael" are simply pure gold. Of course all of them are fantastic.

The quality drops a LOT once Sorkin leaves the show and Welles from ER takes over. Everything starts to become Event driven rather than Character driven for the most part...

YES. I don't intend to buy any DVDs past Sorkin's departure. It was too painful to watch the first time around.

I hear so many people say this, and I think it's pure bullshit. I never would have noticed that Sorkin left if everyone hadn't made such a big deal of it. Loosing Sam Seaborn really sucked, and as much as I like Joshua Molina, he couldn't fill Rob Lowe's shoes. But I still think the show was amazing in seasons 5 & 6 (I haven't watched 7 yet.)

"Two Cathedrals" is simply one of the finest hours of television EVER. Halfway through the original broadcast, my dad called and said, "So, what d'you think?" I replied, "I think they should let Aaron stay on the mushrooms."

"Isaac and Ishmael" also was excellent... but by the time it aired, three weeks or so after 9/11, we had already heard all of this so many times it was almost eye-rolling. I imagine the perspective of years and all the nonsense since would change that. Now I want to dig up my DVDs.

Yes, I hadn't seen it back then. But watching it now was very enjoyable.

Yeah, I'll be working my way through the whole series. I'll be ordering season 7 shortly.
