UGH

Why does everything have to be so difficult sometimes? UGH. So, back when I first received the offer for this job at GW, we started looking into preschool options for Drew post haste. We got on the wait list at the Bright Horizons center associated with GW, it's just two blocks from my office and the plan was for Drew and me to ride the Metro in ( Read more... )

Was the daycare arrangement part of your hiring at GWU? If it was, I would seriously raise hell with your hiring manager. If not, I would ask what the policies on being waitlisted are - is it that there are faculty who receive earlier preference? It doesn't make sense that you would just be dumped from 3rd to 8th spot...

The center is "associated" with GW, not run by GW, so it wasn't part of the hiring agreement. They're "associated" in that GW employees get priority. But so do siblings, and we're suffering a bad case of "sibling bump" which happens at all daycares. But I had such high hopes for this one because of how cool it would (will?) be to ride in each day with Drew and drop him off and pick him up, etc.

that would be cool to be able to road trip to school/work together. I hope they get their act cleaned up. Totally frustrating. We face the same thing sometimes (mostly in the Summer) with Jamie because of this Autism, we have to be on wait list for those specialized programs. This year in fact, he's at Summer Camp Gramma because the wait lists were too packed already, unless we wanted to pay 1600 a week.

A week.

I'm looking into Lego camp for him for next Summer because his IEP Occupational Specialist said he would be willing to go wherever Jamie was if the program allowed. So we'll see.
