Also, am I going to notice the difference between a frame rate of 60Hz versus a frame rate of 120Hz on a 42 or 47 inch HD LCD?

Is it worth the extra $400-$800 for double the frame rate?

It will make the biggest difference on sporting events and action movies where it will reduce motion blur.

i'm going to say no. not because it won't make a difference, but because you've lived without it up until this point so will your quality of life really change? :D

and just think what you can buy with that extra $400-800 that actually WILL make a difference.

Have you decided on 1080p vs 720p? I'm more in the 720 camp unless you're getting a huge tv. Another way to save money.

I agree with this one. We got a little 19" HDTV 720p cheapo thing for the new kitchen, and HD channels still look great on it.
