i gather Obama has moved away somewhat from earlier Pakistan statements, but truly wouldn't know, as it's not something i follow (other than a vague idea that he has distanced himself). any views/news on this?

This is one of the issues that makes me really crazy. I read a book in college called "Savage Inequalities" by Jonathan Kozol about the state of the inner city schools, (now remember that I am now geriatric, in that I graduated from college in 1994) so the book is hopelessly out of date now. However, a lot of the issues that the schools were facing then have only grown to effect more schools now
