Café Ista : Open up your eyes and see like me~

When you have a lost and homeless friend whose best friend-type-thing is a forty-seven foot long sparkly telepathic dragon, what is the logical thing to do?

Why, set up an outdoor café with condos above it of course!

... hey, a job's a job and a place to live is a place to live, right? And it's one that I'amer can share with his dragon friend, and ( Read more... )

I'amer is downstairs, drying off his hands and face with a brightly-colored dishtowel. He stops to stare at the dishtowel for a moment. Back on Pern, the only dyes came from plants. You couldn't get colors and patterns this vivid back there. I'amer had arrived to the Wavering World about six months ago, and the big truths of the place had pretty much sunk in, but it was little things like cheery orange-yellow dishtowels that still caught him off-guard ( ... )

Rixan is in the kitchen, keeping an eye on the tea as well as having one of her rather unreadable smiles on her face. She had been drawn to the Wavering World because of the sense of chaotic order the whole world gave off. Balance at its finest--it was why Rixan never wished to leave. Encountering Colm had been purely on chance, but it was a good one. The man was amusing.

"Whenever you are ready," she says, barely audible. These two--I'amer and Colm... if such as thing was possible, she felt more comfortable around them than any other being she had encountered in her travels.

"Of course he's prettier! He's you Aurenth, after all." Colm rounds the corner so he can get a proper look at I'amer. "Ah! Wonderful, wonderful. You look perfect."

He crosses over to the counter and then hops up to take a seat on it. "Maybe we should go ahead and open up, since we're ready," he says thoughtfully, reaching over for the jar of little lollipops to snitch one. He unwraps it and pops it in his mouth. "Ah... blueberry." He grins around the stick.

I'amer adjusts his hair one more time in front of the mirror, then steps out to the front of the store, full of confident swagger. "So Aurenth and I came up with an idea of how to attract some customers as we open up." He opened the doors and stepped out, just in time for Aurenth to give a bugle that resounded through the streets. I'amer looked back over his shoulder and grinned. "See? Opening bell. Turns heads." He put his hand over his eyes so he wouldn't be dazzled by the morning sunlight, and peered out at the street. "Nice morning. We should get some business."

Aurenth gave the morning call, as I'amer had requested, then stretched out across the roof once more. His hide sparkled merrily in the morning sunlight, freshly oiled and set to impress. It was a boring job, being decoration, but Aurenth didn't usually mind. Baking in the sun all day was certainly relaxing. Sometimes he missed Threadfighting, if just for the exercise and excitement, but hadn't he earned some downtime? He had the scars to prove that he had done his part. I would like to go out to fly later, I'amer. You may invite your friends.

"How dare you -- !"

"Gabranth!"

"X-ZONE!"

A dark field of stars opens under their feet -- the rest of the world shrinks away as the hole in the universe closes around them --

and there is wind screaming past him cold and biting roaring in his ears and he can't keep his eyes closed and all he can see is nothing and

Is this it, Xemnas? Kefka? ... Xion? The nothingness you so desire?

He falls for a long, long time.

There is no warning, no pinprick of light that grows as he falls closer to it, no change in the wind. Everything just... stops.

There is light again, sunlight, all around him and blinding. He is lying on his back, staring up at the sky, which is so brilliantly blue blue blue that it hurts to look at. He blinks once, twice, screws his eyes together for a moment, then opens them again. Blue. A small breeze drifts across his face, carrying the smells of a city in good weather.

He's alive.

... Noah...?Slowly, Saïx sits up. The world heaves around him when he stops moving and he brings his hand to his head, as if that would steady it. "Nngh..." He waits (longer than he expects) for the dizziness to pass before looking around him for Gabranth ( ... )

In utter shock, Aurenth roared and recoiled reflexively as two humans materialized on top of him. The roar was so loud that the teacups in the café clattered on their shelves, and the streets of Nicander reverberated with the sound. Once the initial wave of confusion passed, Aurenth stopped flailing and stopped to stare at the two strange men. They were covered in metal and carried weapons. This did not reassure the dragon. Who are you? Where did you come from? he demanded, settling into a wary stance in case they were dangerous.

I'amer ran out of the café and stared up at the roof. Aurenth? What in Faranth's name is going on?!

Two men with weapons fell out of the sky and landed on me!

It's been three days, and she still remembers it all perfectly--the trip through the relay, the battle with the Collector ship, the destruction of their base... and that monstrosity they had created. She remembers the look in Thane's eyes as she fell, the sudden silence in her ears... maybe she died again. She doesn't know. At night she still hears his voice, feels his touch. Her dreams are vivid.

During the day, she searches. So far the city--Nicander, she learned yesterday--has been somewhat quiet. There are people bustling about, but it's been calm. Peaceful. It would be a nice reprieve if she wasn't alone. When she reaches the café, however, things change. Ista, the sign says--but it isn't the sign that catches her attention.

It's the gigantic dragon on the top of the building. There are people up there with it, and she can hear shouting, though she can't make out what's being said. As she watches, they disappear into the building.

Her curiosity gets the better of her, and she goes inside.

We should really do a Waver Chat soon and establish a tagging order balance_seeker0 March 19 2010, 01:15:21 UTC
The first thing Shepard should notice upon entering the building that is is a charming little place. Second, that a mass of swirling... whatever it is, it's black, purple, vaguely smoke-like and it's rather like a portal of some sort. And that a white-haired woman is stepping out of it.

She looks at you, and eyes that green should not belong on a human. "Ah--another new arrival, then? I suppose this saves us the trouble of repeating the explanation multiple times." She makes a sweeping gesture at one of the tables.

"Please, have a seat, miss...?"

"Shepard," says Shepard, quickly recovering from the shock of a portal of dark energy and a woman suddenly appearing in the middle of the room. "What do you mean, 'another' new arrival?" She slips into a chair and crosses her legs, fingers resting on the pistol at her hip.

order is something like... Shep--Rix--Colm/Saï--I'amer/Aurenth? Maybe? Gabs is out cold still tempered_gold March 20 2010, 02:34:01 UTC
"Another?" Colm echoes as he makes his way down the stairs. "Goodness, She certainly seems to like dropping them in on us, doesn't She?" As he descends into the room, though, he can sense it, the amount of distinct energy (1) around the new woman that is the signature of an otherworldly freshly brought in from their home realm. Eesh, Colm can't help but think. What are you planning?

"Don't mind us or the, um... chaos," he says cheerfully, waving his hand at Gabranth and Saïx. The latter of the two eyeticks. "They're new here, too, you see. In fact, they just got here!" He jumps the last couple of steps. "So, how about a group explanation, hmm?"
