A wig, some big robes, a little makeup, it's amazing what movie magic can do. ;)

Same here. When I first saw the picture of the kid they cast as young Snape I began to worry. Now I don't worry so much.

He doesn't look..."dark" enough. They stuffed him into a black wig and some black robes but they forgot the eyebrows, eyelashes...things to make the transformation from fairhaired youth into a dark, glowering student look NATURAL.

Not to mention the wig looks totally fake . . . I can tell it's synthetic. *is a theatre person* Seriously, that's just . . . ugh. Bad makeup crew, BAD! Give that boy a better wig, like the one Rickman has!

I feel bad for this kid. Assuming he's got acting ability, he could be a perfect Snape, but he's not being given the tools *has done far too much makeup crew for her own good*. The wig looks like something out of the dollar bin, his eyebrows weren't dyed/pencilled in (as somebody else pointed out), and his clothes look almost new instead of old and hand-me-downish.

Does the casting director/makeup crew just not care anymore? Luna doesn't look like a Luna, either - there's no dreamy expression in her at all. She's a solid, stolid Brit girl through and through (and there's nothing wrong with that . . . unless you're playing Luna!).
