I must absolutely read Static. I'm not a fan of Brad/Nate but the Ray in it is so, so good. I cannot even. RAY PERSON; GOAT-HERD is an image I treasure forever.

Right after that I want to read What To Do After Firing in the wolfbrother-verse by Dira. It's all my favourite tropes wrapped up in Ray and if I cannot choose the entire series then I at least want this one because ugh, world-building.

The final spot would be a hard choice; I just. I want all the fic; all of them. But if I absolutely had to narrow it down, I want Carrying Dangerous Goods. I love AUs, I love dragons, I love lengthy, plotty fic and I love Ray. This is all of that. And more. Like, I settled in one night for a quick read before bed and ended up going in to work the next morning having just enough time to shower and down coffee -- and I was not remotely sorry about it.

I love the characterization in Static so much that I'm willing to overlook my inability to see Brad/Nate at all. It's just. So. Good. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Number one, hands down, would be Something You Miss by fiddleyoumust. It is, to date, the only fic that's almost made me cry. I don't re-read it a lot, but if this was my last day, I damn well would. Only thing is, there's not much Ray. Sadface.

Number two, Semper Fidelis Familia by hackthis, which I pretty much assume everyone has read and this doesn't need to be recced. I realise I'm reccing Brad/Nate fics here, which aren't this community's forte, but I really love badass Brad (#1 kink of all kinks), and Godfather in this one is the best, and the sex is hot. Also worthy of note is the author's La Femme Nikita AU. I'd probs read that as well.

Number three, finally, is The Only Time We Know by kitsunejin. Yay, Brad/Ray! YAAAAAAY, VAMPIRESSSSSSS!

I avoided The Only Time We Know for so long due to my irrational (okay, fairly reasonable) dislike for Southern Vampire Mysteries but I'm so, so sorry I did.

Yeah, I would say very reasonable. I've only read the first two books, and basically alternated between two expressions: hysterical laughter and an arched eyebrow. Good times.

Those are the perfect expressions to have; I think I might have tossed a book down a time or two as well but I get fairly passionate about some things.

Sticking with Ray-centrics:

For What It's Worth by justaotherwitch. EPIC Brad/Ray D/S, with great characterizations and sex scenes but what I love most about it is the painstaking, captivating and completely believable take on how they became friends, and how it develops into more. Really awesome Ray POV throughout.

Three Times Lilley Videotaped Ray (and One Time Ray Taped Himself For Lilley) by kali1967. I think the final scene is an incredible and hot depiction of lovers connecting when one of them is deployed. I think about this all the time.

And I second The Only Time We Know. Really exquisite and a thrilling vampire world. I think what it comes down to is if the world is ending, I'd spend my time reading hot sex that makes me feel things where I feel like the characters are totally talking to me.

Honorable mention goes to chemfishee's singing hallelujah with the fear in your heart. It's a fave of mine, but actually about the end of the world, so it might be a little too sad, under the circumstances.

I love For What It's Worth so much! It is such a wonderful character study under everything else that is absolutely brilliant. It has one of my favorite post-football game scenes.

easily one of my all time favorite Brad/Ray fics is You Who Are My Home by shoshannagold It was one of the first Brad/Ray fics I read and it was the first one I read where always-a-top!Colbert wasn't on top. And it was such a wonderful portrayal of the give-and-take in their relationship. And it's about Ray in Missouri and Brad flying out to make sure he's okay because they know each other that well ♥

And then there is The secret's out, but too loud to think it by mcl4r3n. It's a Nate/Ray fic where they fight and argue and are stupid about their feelings but they somehow fit so wonderfully together. There is also Brad and Ray as best friends and giving bad advice ♥

This is Your Wake-Up Call by novembersmith Hunger Games AU. Brad/Ray. Do I need to say more? Because there is also Fick being a wonderful leader and dedicated to the cause. But more than anything, Ray doing his best to take care of Brad because Brad is his leader and because of feelings

if we are talking series though, I have to mention jmc-bks' AU where Ray is a lawyer ( the proper consumption of pizza & sushi and a steady diet of sodapop &ritalin)

and schlicky's Coffee AU (she has several other wonderful stories but I have a lot of feelings about this one) give me java, give me joy and but I will hold on hope
