I can't pick a favourite line. There are two parts, two things that just slapped me in the face in a really good way.

1) "What's wrong?" Pete asks instantly and Patrick shrugs.

You miss her, Pete thinks.

That was just so quietly gorgeous. Gorgeous. I could feel their connection.

2) "Guys," Pete says, clears his throat. They all look up directly into his face and he blushes for the first time in a long while. "I'm glad we're still here."

That one almost made me cry because, god, I want to hear Pete say that. I want him to tell us all that he's happy to be here.

Ahahaha, I love how my contribution to this fic was basically telling you to about a missing 'because' you'd already found, and yet I got thanked. Whoo!

The elevator ride is slightly awkward only because Pete's standing so close to Patrick that his breath is actually moving the hairs on the back of his neck. Patrick wiggles his shoulders and arms, trying to stop the strange sensation.
Still my favourite, even though you changed 'creepy' to 'strange'. I love it and I love you, and I love that you took the van-accident-episode to a life-affirming ending, because I've seriously never ever seen that before. Go you!

This is absolutely gorgeous and quiet and lovely.

There's always time for things like this, Pete thinks blearily. Time for rest stops and sweaty palms and anxious phone calls home. There's always time for these things, until there is no more time and then, well.
