The sting of another birthday can only be soothed by the remarkable brilliance of your fic. Thank you for the angsty beauty of this one. It was sublime. It was so sublime that it left me speechless for weeks. Is that what happened to me? Yes, it must have been the fic. I am humbled and thankful for your friendship and your talent and the care you have taken with our friendship.

I miss your writing. I had forgotten how well you can twist your words around images and ideas. Do you ever miss a step? It's as if no time has passed from your last fic to this one. Your voice and your tone and your construction is seamless. How the hell do you do that?

What I love most is your use of denial. It's brilliant. And you know that denial is one of my favorite concepts of all time. Of course he can't accept the truth of his situation, of who he really is and what he's done and why. It's too painful.

Eye of the beholder, I think? It was *very difficult* to write again and it took me forever to get a hold of an idea that I could run with. There was various misstarts along the way, but I was quite determined to write you a fic. I'm glad you liked it! Maybe there will be more practicing in the future? Three years at a time perhaps...

Hey, all that torture was invisible to me, the reader, truly. This reads like a dream. If I have to wait three years for the next one, so be it.
