Between-round Tournament

Okay, last entry for today. :) I've been thinking that I'd like to do a shorter activity to fill the break between Round 10 and Round 11, and my idea is: a tournament-style competition.

This is an idea I've been mulling over for quite a while, ever since I came across the community bssm_battle. Instead of having voting with a big table, they split the icons into pairs and you decide which icon in each pair is better, and the icon with the lower score gets eliminated.

At the beginning, I'd put up a sign-up post, where you would choose an alias and several caps you'd like to icon.

Every round, I'd assign one cap to a pair of people (this is why the aliases would be necessary, because otherwise you would probably be able to guess who made what icon if you know which two people were assigned to the cap) and each would make an icon using that cap.

Then voting would be as described above -- separated into the different match-ups, and you'd vote for the better icon in each.

I want to keep this competition short and sweet, so it would be a strict one-week schedule (challenges open for 5 days, voting open for 2 days), where not submitting is a loss by default. Also, to keep it short, it would just be single elimination, which means if we have 5-8 people, we'd have 3 rounds; 9-16 people, 4 rounds; 17-32 people, 5 rounds.

Odd numbers of participants would be handled by having some groups of three during some rounds -- the lowest-scoring icon of the three would be eliminated, while the other two move on.

Basically, I'd just like to try a different kind of competition, a short time-filler where individual participants get to choose the caps.

So, POLL TIME:

If you have any thoughts or suggestions or questions or concerns, please leave a comment! In particular, I'm currently trying to figure out what kind of method I should use to set up the matches, so if anyone has suggestions regarding that, I'd like to hear those. Comments are unscreened.
