Many thanks to veleda_k, who submitted a ficlet for our 500-word challenge! Check out Ring in the New, if you haven't already - and remember to please, by all means, feed your authors with feedback.

Now that the January challenge is over, slytheringurrl and I are considering what the comm might want to do next. What would you all like to see this spring? A promptfest ( Read more... )

I second a prompt fest. That sounds great.

I like the promptfest idea, though I'm hoping it'll be one of those ones where you don't have to fill a prompt if you leave one/some? My experience with promptfests is that people leave fic-related prompts (which is fine and totally understandable) and not ones that I can easily interpret in screencap-based artwork, so can't guarantee to be able to fill any prompts (though hopeful that maybe there'll be one I can fill).

Now, must get on with my first offering in the 12 in 12 challenge...!

The best comment-fic memes in my fannish experience are at hoodie-time (SPN) and they specifically tell people that they can post fic and/or art prompts. So while there are still way more fic prompts, a good number of art-specific prompts are usually left as well. And they also specify that you DON'T have to fill prompts to leave prompts, which is fair to me because some people have great ideas but don't write fic.

Anyway, those are rules that I think serve any promptfest/comment-fic meme well.

Yeah, I understand the logic behind the whole "leave a prompt, fill a prompt" idea, but I agree that it isn't fair to non-writers.

We'll do our best to encourage art prompts as well. Perhaps you could give me an example of a good art prompt? That way I can put it in the post.
