Alec had been reading. It had become is all time favorit past time in the last couple of days. He had always liked it, but now it was one of the few things that looked right to him. The words in clear black and white. They weren't supposed to have colour. He wasn't supposed to know how they felt and other people's emotions weren't supposed to linger in the paper and ink.

He looked up when she knocked and took a minute to look at her. To take in and apprciate teh changes that his shifted sight showed. How her light was a little more intense and whisper faint after image of wings. He smiled and held a hand out to her. He had missed her. He always did.

She grinned back at him before taking his hand and dropping onto the bed next to him, curling up close. She'd missed that kind of response from him. The shell Barbatos had left behind was so un-Alec like that it broke her heart. And yes, contrary to popular belief, demons did have one.

She kicked off her heels, before letting her head rest on his shoulder gently looking over at the book. "What're you reading?"

He purred as she settled against him and flipped the book closed so she could see the tittle. Tolkien's Silmarillion. He hadn't wanted non fiction, but also hadn't wanted to read a novel just in case he hadn't been able to read it right. So he had gone for the middle ground. Fictional facts.

She made a bit of a 'hmmm' noise at his choice, before gently taking the book and flipping it over to the back, reading whatever was written there. She was careful not to lose his place, just reading it over.

"Interesting. I missed out on the Tolkien era. None of my hosts were English buffs."
