There's a knock on the doorjamb--Charles himself is leaning a shoulder against it, still in the turtleneck and trousers from earlier, holding a slim electronic datebook. He has Urquhart's name--and now knows he can afford an appointment--but not much else about him.

He aims to change this. "I have a few questions."

He is not one Teja is delighted to see, but in the course of his duty, his attention is owed to all patrons of this place in equal ways.

"Greetings," he says. "You may ask me. I am a member of Security."

Charles seriously considers walking out and returning later. He's not inclined to be looked at like pond scum for something that isn't his fault.

"First question, does the no outside business rule apply to our professions, or just our grudges?"

"Grudges," Teja says. "And trades to take effect in your world, not here. I am a smith by trade, and work in the forge, making blades and jewellery. Such business is allowed."

Pause.

"There even is a brothel upstairs."

As that is Charles Monroe's trade.
