His jaw is still out of sorts and sore, so he's speaking like this if only to save himself some pain.

It isn't that he doesn't still hurt, it's just that he can't feel himself hurting anymore. "And I brought a book, so if you feel like sleeping you can do so without me getting bored. I'm also projecting Hard Need at you, which won't fix you as fast as if you were Gen, but will help you heal faster than normal."

He's not about to use his jaw again. She didn't fix it; she just took the pain away. It probably isn't a good idea to try and talk with it like that anyway; the purpose of pain is to warm you that something is damaged and shouldn't be moved like that often enough.
