ATTN: REQUIEM FOR A MOD POST

Jan 31, 2012 13:56

Today's task: trying to neaten up some of our tags before importing them all to Dreamwidth. I like to think of it as the virtual equivalent of compulsive shame-tidying before guests come over.

ANYWAY. Behind the cut, ~500 tags that have been used 0-3 times. On Friday, each and every one of these tags will be going poof, unless someone comments ( Read more... )

I'd like to keep "viola" please. She's . . . well, not as new as I think she is, but still with me.

Thanks!

The tag limit for premium paid accounts over at DW is 2,000, which is about 500 fewer than Milliways currently has. However, DW staff have mentioned in the comments to certain news posts that it's possible, in cases such as high-usage premium communities, to increase that tag limit to about 4,000. I've put in a support request on the subject, but haven't heard back yet.

That said, if you're planning to simply create a new tag on DW, then... why bother deleting the one we have now? Either way, it's one more tag, so it doesn't actually make a difference at all.

That tag does exist, I think the one above is a superfluous typo tag, so it can be deleted. Though you might want to search out the post that's tagged with the typo and make sure it gets the right tag, too.

Can we edit existing tags? I will do that then.

I don't think you can unless you're a mod.

What I'm saying is that if you search the misspelled Fiona, you only get one post, since that's the only occurrence of the bad tag. You can just add the properly-spelled tag, which does exist, to that post, so it's still going to be tagged when the bad tag is deleted.
