It was a long, long, long game.

But a good one.

Meg Ford, still in umpire blue, has a seat on the bleachers over looking first base, a Molson, and no intention of moving any time soon.

Castiel eventually wanders down from his seat at the top of the bleachers to sit next to Meg.

He takes a moment to look out over the field again.

"Good game."

"Yeah, it was," she says. "And congratulations.

"I don't think I'm going to dump my plans for medical school, and embark on a career calling baseball games, but it was fun.

"Did you have a good time?"

Castiel thinks it over. But he doesn't have to think about it for very long.

"Yes. I did."

"I work well within a team."

Just exchange the baseball caps for halos.

It is what he knows how to do. And the first time he has gotten to experience it in Milliways.

"Did you? Have a good time?"

"I did," Meg says. "I mean, the end was a little unsettling, but . . . I think everyone had a good time."

She's very proud of what they pulled off here.

Trust demons to undermine things. But Castiel is not going to let that worry him overly much. They had been easily defeated.

"I do not think I had realized before how much of the game involved baiting other players."

Castiel hadn't indulged (because he didnt' really grasp the point, and because he knew it was beyond him). But he had been listening intently, all through the game.

Meg laughs. "Well, it's not required, but . . . good-natured heckling seems to happen."

Castiel smiles slightly.

"I would not be good at it."

"I'm not, either," Meg confesses.

"Others more than made up for it. Grace. Crowley. ...Stitch, I think."

Heckling must be a strength, just like pitching or batting.

"Duo and Raphael," Meg adds.

"Stitch is . . . good at presenting challenges to the umpire," Meg says.

"And scored the winning run."

"For all his unpredictability, he did well in the end."

Bat-and-ball-eating aside.

"He should be proud."

"He did, yes.

"You had a good team. So did Dr. Cullen. It was a very good game."

"The Cullen family is quite enthusiastic when it comes to the game."

Like...well, like a family would be when taking part in a favored past time.

"Yes, they seem to be," Meg says. "Not uncommon, in a family.

"I learned about baseball because my father taught me."

"It seems to be a common teaching for fathers to pass on to their children."

In some parts of the world, anyway.

"Would he have enjoyed this game?"
