I love how you transplanted Bilbo into the events of LotR, just long enough to make a difference. Thank goodness he didn't get a chance to put on the Ring! (I'm guessing the two Rings were quantum entangled across time, so if Bilbo had revealed himself to the Black Riders by putting on his, then Frodo would have been revealed too. *shudders*)

I wonder if they ever went back to Woody End looking for that elusive inn?

A really intriguing read!

The possible tanglement of Rings superimposed in time didn't really occur to me -- though I wish I'd thought of that, because it's a good idea -- but it was clear that Bilbo would be much better off if he didn't actually *put on* the ring he thought was a bit of a party trick. Maybe he felt better relying on his own cleverness than "cheating" with the ring. I'm glad, too, that he didn't stay in the later time for long, because the more empowered Ring there would probably have affected him soon.

It would have been fun if Radagast, in the easier era 30 years before the Quest, spent a few years in Woody End near the place the Elves sometimes visited. It wouldn't be a much-frequented inn, but he'd have plenty of birds to talk to...

Glad you liked it!
