I must apologise. It seems we have had many new arrivals, yet I have been unable to fulfill my role as a member of the Welcoming Committee and greet any of you. The cursed sleep locked me in my dreams for over a week, you see.

[He sighs lightly.]You may of course ask questions of me now, if you wish. It is my duty to help you settle in as best you ( Read more... )

[The voice is soft, inquiring.] ...You were cursed?

'Cursed' is the only way to describe it.

[A thoughtful pause.]

It happen on rare occasions to random people within this city... or random as far as we know. The actual length of time each person sleeps varies. Others have slept for far longer than I, I know that.

Does anyone know why? This city seems so...benevolent. Why would it hurt the User- the people it brings here?

Some have told me it happens when we do not touch the coral often enough, and our energy levels get low... but I am quite certain I was not neglecting doing so. There is no other explanation I can think of.

[He pauses, and then adds with a sigh:]

Vatheon needs us, and indeed treats us well... most of the time. But not always. Definitely not always.

I am just doing the right thing, my Lady.

[A quiet chuckle.]

We all need some guidance when Vatheon first ensnares us.

You have my thanks.

[Mami gives a nod. ]

... My question is about the coral I saw at the plaza. Why did I feel so drawn to it?

That coral is called the 'Lamufao,' and it is believed to be what drains us of our energy. That energy is then in turn used to power the barrier that surrounds us.

[His tone has become very formal, as it always does when he passes on what he knows.]

In addition, we must touch the Lamufao every two weeks, roughly, in order to replenish the energy we have lost. That is why you are drawn to it. Tell me, have you found the tattoo on yourself yet?

[ SDFOGNSDFNGLDFSLH she sighs in deep relief. Motochika was awake before him, so she knew nothing bad happened to them, but still. Gracia was plenty happy to see him up and at 'em again. ]

Father, I'm so glad you're awake! You're not hurt or injured, right?

Not at all. My body aches a little, but a long bath followed by a walk will take care of that.

[His tone is soft and reassuring.]

You need not worry.

Are you sure? You and Motochika were asleep for a long time...

[ She smiles. ]

But if you say so, father! I believe you. I don't need anything in the market, but I did get you more peaches! And I could go with you, too! [ She's not buttering you up, no way why would you even think that. ]

Good morning, Mitsuhide.

[His tone his warm; in the middle of it, he continues to play a light song upon his shamisen as he speaks. A pause in speaking follows whilst he thinks.]

I require more nail varnish remover.

Good morning, my Lord. I shall put it on my list.

[There is a brief pause, while he does just that.]

You seem cheerful today.

[No opinion here yet. Mitsuhide is still stuck on LOTS TO DO LOTS TO DOOOO.]

Thank you, Lord Kenshin.

[A brief hum.]

It was odd, to wake up and find so much time had passed.

Quite a battle through which you slept. You have awoken in time to see peace once again over Vatheon.
