No. When you return to your world, no time will have passed.

There've been a few people who left this world and came back with their memories of this place intact. I spoke with one of them, and that's what she told me. If you want, I can confirm it with another.

That's the popular belief. It's just being in a dream, I figure. While you're asleep, someone is still busting into your apartment, stealing your television, and the texts are piling up on your phone.

Except that's not quite right. You're actually awake and chasing after the bastard with the TV before he can make it downstairs. You're asleep in a different plain? Everything else is still going down in real-time.

[That...doesn't really make him feel better but it answers his question]

Good to know.

You OK, kiddo?

Wouldn't know to be honest. Maybe yes, maybe no, more likely yes since this is apparently a dream world. Why, something fun going on back home that you're going to miss?

Not exactly but thanks for the input.

Pfft I could be totally wrong but then...the people from my world are either younger or older than they should be.

Nothing fun, what a shame. I'm missing out on pay day and a delivery of new clippers.

[And quite naturally, in a natural voice that no doubt has assured countless others before-] No, it doesn't. Your presence here won't affect the events of your world and their outcomes, so that's one thing you wouldn't have to worry about.

You sound pretty sure of that. Any reason why?

carpo_vita April 16 2010, 03:24:59 UTC
Yes. [...How to explain but stay vague.] There is a duty that I must fulfill, back in my world, and depending on whether or not I would be there to do so, it would change a great deal of things at home. I arrived here before I could, but then I met others here from my world, from a time that is two years into my future. They confirmed for me that I did do what I had to do. In addition, I also have a friend who returned to his world and then came back here, with his memories of Somarium intact and the certitude that nothing changed in his world during his stay here. It's why I'm positive about this.

Were you worried for any particular reason?
