 Because it's my day for talking about folk traditions...

Here - with comments on each photo to explain what is happening - is Saddleworth Rushcart procession.

This is a modern rushcart - and the event is totally unadvertised and totally amazing.

Oh, I like that atmosphere so much, I wish I was there!( Here people are indifferent and instead of finding something to cheer them up, they keep giving up..).
The music alone just makes me hop!:-)

It was amazing. I walked for several miles with the rushcart, abandoning my mother in a tearoom in Uppermill. I was on a high the whole time.

I know that I have to go back again sometime and try and do the entire day with them.

Could be a perfect excuse to meet up! (Not this year owning to the clash with Discworld, but next year, who knows?
