Chemical pelmanism

Just been having fun with one of my pupils. She was having trouble with definitions of words like 'solute' so I just did a pack of cards with the terms on some and the definitions on others. Then we turned them all over and tried to pick up matching pairs ( Read more... )

We both had great fun with it. I think I may try something similar with properties of solids, gases and liquids next week.

I think that this is an excellent way to help people learn.

I read that as 'greases and liquids' which sounds like another class altogether.

I usually teach GCSE, but I do a few younger ones from time to time. This particular pupil is Key stage 3, so needs a lot more basic stuff.

I tutor from home. It means I don't have to drive (which is often a problem for me) and if I'm ill, it's easy to cancel lessons.
