We in chat have decided we are drastically underwhelmed by Chris's new song. Country Songs 101, anyone? *sigh* Also we think maybe Steve was his muse and now he can't write, because what happened to the guy who wrote Track 29? And whatever other songs he wrote by himself?

Although...

I don't really feel lonesome ( Read more... )

I fail to check his myspace so I just heard it but I agree with the whole underwhelmed business. And then to top if off the new version of House Rules came on right after.

Yes! And he deleted the old House Rules to make room for that one. Uncool. >.

Funny, but I'm usually all OVER his new songs...but until you made this post, I didn't even know he HAD a new song up on his MySpace page. Heh.

And oMg, Yes! He knows we KNOW about him and Steve...definitely! ;D

Also, (and I've discussed this with crystalkirk)I miss "old school" Chris, SO DAMNED BADLY, it's not even funny. Where IS the guy who wrote "Track 29", "All I Did Was Love Her", and the ORIGINAL versions of "More Than I Deserve" & "The House Rules"? Not to mention MY personal #1 fave KANE song, "The Chase"??

His new "album" stuff, makes me wanna cry my eyes out, because it all sounds so...well...un-original now. :( It's NOT the stuff I fell in love with. It's not BAD, by ANY means, tho I'm reeeeeeeeally not fond of the "album version" of "The House Rules", cos I think it's too much, I just miss the "old school" KANE. When he was KANE & not Christian Kane. Where's my Steve in all this ( ... )

I know. I've actually grown to like the other new songs a lot (though I do still think they feel overproduced, especially More Than I Deserve and House Rules), but this one just... feels lacking in that heart and sense of personality we're used to getting from him/them. I'm not trying to harsh on Chris at all, I love him to bits, but I sort of wish he'd stop TRYING so damn hard and just make music, you know? :\

I'll ALWAYS love Chris' music, ALWAYS...but yeah, "More Than I Deserve" and "House Rules", are definitely too much, almost.

And I think my fave "new" song is, "Happy Man", cos it's just SUCH a FUNNY song & smacks of the goofiness that is Chris&Steve. *G*

Yes, Chris just needs to stick to his roots, so-to-speak, and stop letting the record label dudes "push him around"...if that makes sense.

CURRENT SONG: "One Thing"--STEVE!!!!! :D

I heard it just a little while ago and was all huh, is this a cover? Coz it really doesn't sound like him, it sounds like he's singing something that he was told "sing this, it'll fill the rest of your album out". Oh, and when the bit about his dog came up I just broke out into a giggle-snort fit, coz, c'mon, drinking, your 'girl' (read: Steve) and a dog is like the most cheesy country song formula ever *sigh* It really doesn't sound like him or KANE at all, but, coz I'm a sucker, I'll still buy the new album, it just won't get as played as much as the KANE and KANE in London ones *nods*

Edit: Luckily I have a copy of the "demo" (i.e., the good version) of The House Rules, so if anyone needs a copy coz "he" has removed it from his MySpace, I'll happily share it. Damn it, that's my favourite KANE song (and I managed to get them to sing it at the one and only KANE gig that I've been to *twirls*) *glares*

Yes, exactly! dea_liberty and I were talking about just that, actually. We think maybe he was pushed into writing/singing it--it sounds like anyone in Nashville could be singing it and it would sound exactly the same, which worries me a lot. Oh, Chris. *pets him*

Heeeeeeee. House Rules was the first Kane song I ever heard, way back before I really knew who they were, so it's the one I always make people listen to when I'm trying to "convert" them. ♥!

Also? Steve is totally the girl. XD

This whole situation has given me the beginnings of a plot bunny - do you or dea_liberty want to take it??

It was the same with me and House Rules :) (apart form having heard that "Lindsey" had a band outside of Angel) And it worked! Well, for one friend anyway *g*

He so totally is lol!

You know what? I doesn't even say who wrote it. I don't think he did. I think the label handed it to him to fill out the album.

I hope so, dude. Because SERIOUSLY. The album needs to come out already so we can have liner notes. :P
