I also had a hard time keeping up with .308 until I wasted a perk on the "finds lots of ammo" schtick, at which point I never had a problem with .308 because I was mostly using energy weapons at that point.

I basically did the "really sneaky and snipey" routine as well; being able to put a round in someone's head 95% of the time before they know you're there makes it much easier to deal with the bad guys. :)

yeah, I can't bring myself to take that perk. I'm sure I'll be swimming in ammo later in the game. And I hear you on the energy weapons- I currently have 800 e-cells, and ONE crappy laser pistol to shoot them, so they're just sitting in my inventory. And I have a pretty low energy weapons skill at the moment. Although I did find the alien blaster, so I should probably pump it up more.

I admit I totally 'ship them and I've spent the past couple of days looking for good fic and have been totally frustrated. Found a couple of nice ones, at least.
