I've been having a lot of terrible nightmares lately. They're the kind where I wake up in the middle of the night and feel like crying. One of the scariest things I can remember about being a kid is going swimming once when the water was too deep and I couldn't swim. I was hopping up and down... but when my feet were touching the water, my head was under. I suppose if I had been smarter I would have hopped toward somewhere else but I just kept going up and down. I think one of my brothers saved me. I have never been a good swimmer and never liked the feeling of being in a boat surrounded by all that water just thinking about the distance to the bottom of the lake.... Lake Michigan is quite deep.

was at work when I felt the sudden compulsion to call my whiffs mother's house. My daughter had been saved from certain death at the bottom of a concrete hole filled with water by her mother. :)

haha. In retrospect, I really didn't have all that much luck with water when I was a kid. I wonder why I still love it so much.
