I now have an AO3 account! Yay! Signed up not too long ago for the beta and was informed that I was something like 1900th in the queue and could expect an invitation in about two years, so this morning's email was a nice surprise. Now for the challenge of finding the time to figure out how it works and uploading my not-exactly-sizeable ouvre of fic

I had that a couple of months ago. Mostly in community posts with lots of comments. I'm mostly active in comms these days. Only, for me it was my default pic that was posted even though I tried to use a comment specific one.

It went away after a while, if that is any help.

it's happening to me in comms right now and it's choosing the first (by alphabetising), which is a old hpcon one. awesome. so i'm glad to know it went away for you ♥

Yeah, it's always the first one under my default. No big deal. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Ooo! Shiny! I'm a little jealous of your AO3 invite. I was told it would be like a year from next February for mine. Perhaps I'll take this as hope that it might not take so long?

When did you sign up? I requested access about two months ago, so really surprised. I bet yours will come through sooner. I don't have any invites, but if I get one, I'll send it your way.

I signed up at the beginning of the summer. I had no idea what the wait list was like. Crazy! Everyone wants on the AO3 train! It's what all the cool kids are doing these days :-)

It's no big deal, just a minor annoyance since it keeps posting an icon I only used for a specific comm. Oh well.

i adore ao3 so much. it's the only place that has a complete set of all my fan stuff, even a thing i wrote way back in college for the original bsg :D

I didn't ask around because I didn't see it as urgent, especially considering how little time I have for fannish stuff right now. Figured by the time I got in in two years or so, I might actually be getting my life back a little, LOL.

(Do you know the awesome yaycoffee? She mentions upthread that she's been waiting for access too, so if you happen to still have a spare invite lying around, I can vouch that she would be a worthy recipient. =) )

i did see her comment, but when i went to see if i had any more invites i got a message that said they are full up, so i guess i can't help her. i had no idea the invites were such gold, but it really is the place to be. i rely on it for almost all my fandom reading. and the export to ebook function is beyond awesome. i get so much of my fandom reading done on my kindle these days (often when i'm not home and have no access to internet.)
