Okay, so it is Jan. 24 and Dean Winchester is, apparently, 33 today. Yay! [Yeah, I'm totally spelling out a Happy B-day to a fictional character *g*]
Wonder if the show is ever going to address the fact that it's 2012 now, within the 'verse. Given they already had a go at Armageddon, probably, won't matter all that much.
For lack of any other

I thought it's fabulous we are celebrating a fictional character's birthday. I love seeing all the tribute to him today (have you crossposted it at hoodie_time yet?) Why not, right? Especially when he's as beloved as Dean Winchester! Just one small inconsequential correction: Dean is one year younger than his alter-ego. He was in fact born on January 24, 1979, thus he's turning 32 today. ;)

A appreciate your word beyond worth!
I'm so glad the Lucifer-through-Sam-through-Lucifer perspective managed to work for you.
I haven's cross-posted at hoodie_time yet, seeing as I wasn't sure the story fits the community premise. But you got me so inspired by the comment, I think I will now.
I *do* remember Dean was born in '79. *g* That's the whole timeline deal, actually, that I hope will be addressed on the show, sometime. Season 5 ended in 2010. Then there was a *year* leap forward, which would land us in 2012 now, within the show 'verse. Making Dean 33, on Jan. 24, 2012, in the middle of season 6. Unless I'm messing the math horrendously here.

Unless, the events happened in "Swan Song" wasn't in May, 2010, but in Fall 2009 instead? I don't remember now if they explicitly referred to the timeline in season 5. I vaguely remember somewhere in S5, it was mentioned "several months" had passed, or was that in season 4? Now I'm all confused and curious.

Yeah, Dean is, certainly, far from perfect - but his imperfections just make what is utterly fascinating about him stand out all the more prominently: the unfathomable capacity for love and care, overwhelming sense of duty and obligation not just to his loved ones, but to the whole wide world. An ultimately beautiful soul.
I just hope it gets recognized more vocally by the ones Dean holds dearest.

Oh, I wish Dean gets to learn explicitly, that Sam *sees* his brother - not just the flaws and weaknesses, but the utmost beauty of Dean's spirit. Especially, given everything Dean had to endure while Sam was desouled.

I wish that sometime upon resoulment, Sam acknowledges out loud what transpired through his mind at Stull Cemetary and what helped him beat the Devil (namely, Dean's presence, the fortitude of their brotherhood). After all the Robo!Sam shenanigans, Dean's due that much, I think.
I'm anticipating a hug too. Though, given all the complexity of the resoulmet matter, I wonder if there's gonna be more angst first. Sam will have the vehicle of remorse for what he did while soulless, and we do know he's prone to channel guilt through anger, on occasion.

Fangirls can wish, right?
Dean definitely could use that Stull Cemetery epiphany of Sam's to work his way around believing himself as deserving of love and appreciation.
That would really be a conversation both of them need, to build up a premise and move on from the torturous Lucifer-Cage-desoulment predicament with minimized emotional damage (which is already enormous).
