*There is an miasma of expectation clinging to the walls of the Kalis watchtower. Faint, distant shouts and peals of laserfire echo dimly from a far underground network - one convoy under attack; one thus far umolested; and one other - one other creeping silent and indetectable through the city's roots, invisible to spies and prying optics, and the ( Read more... )

*Thrust is hunched over one of the sole monitors that isn't being manipulated directly by Dreadmoon. He is cackling with glee.* Just as I told you about Ultra Magnus. A purely frontal attack with no thought behind it. All according to plan. *he's mostly talking to himself here*

All right. It's still there, it just needs repairing. *looks back at the monitors* They're retreating. Our plan worked. All we need now is time to repair and upgrade.

//Most of the Sector is that way on some levels. It's nothing new.// *and, yes, his voice is a little bitter at that. He's pulling himself together quickly, but some emotion managed to slip through...*

//The central train is inside Kalis - they're inside the walls and unloading. The second is close behind, and the third is moving in on the barracks.// *relaxes, just a bit, but the shaking in his hands slows*

The Sector will not be dead for long. Does Magnus still see the decoy?

//They retreated far enough to be out of immediate audial range, but they're following a short way behind. They can't see the troops, but they're not far enough away to be out of sensor-range.//

As long as they are distracted and doing no harm, they should be no problem. *hovers about slightly* Do you recquire anything?

*I don't think there's anything you can do to get rid of the deadness in the city...not now, at least. Not yet*

//No - thank you, no. I shall get the supplies in and have Nimbus see to the techs...// *And then try not to sit and shiver*

All right. *does not like being up here feeling useless* Should I see to the other troops?

*Stay with me.*

*...That was the reverberating shockwaves from the explosion talking. It had to be. Then again, what was he going to do after sorting the supplies that Nimbus or the staff couldn't..?*

//If you could stay instead - I want to go through the records of the fight, if there was anything you picked out as worthy of notice.//

*nods* Then I shall. *is secretly rather glad of this. He's still concerned over the Monitor's well-being at such a crucial period*

*fant touch of a smile filtering through to pale lips* //My thanks, tactician.//

*for a time, the control room is a hive of industry, tower staff moving from console to console, a hundred and one things to do and half-done and barely started; but eventually the room clears, slowly, and when the last order had been passed on and the final mech had exited through the tall doors, Dreadmoon finally, finally disengages the cables and lets his arms fall to his sides*

*the intense relief is carefully hidden as Thrust steps back to let Dreadmoon up* How go things.

*his energy signiture is shot through with Kalis, unable to tell where one ends and the other begins - unfortunately for him that means he still feels like one of his tunnel walls has been collapsed and he's mentally having to snap back to normal again*

*stands rather stiffly and stretches his wings, trying to stop feeling walkways thrum under his skin* As planned. Things should proceed more or less automatically from here...

*notices what Dreadboots was talking about. Dreadmoon's energy fields are different. It's hard to tell by certain sensors alone where the Monitor and the city part ways* Perfect. Should we review the tapes or rest upon our laurels first.

*looks at him rather blankly, the city warring behind his optics and spinning hectically through his mind...* I'm sorry?

Rest. Relax. Enjoy the victory before analyzing it. *because Dreadmoon needs to sit*
