White lights glistened from the bushes and trees they were strung around. Soft jazz music emanated through the door leading downstairs. A cool but refreshing breeze passed over Senator Nathan Petrelli as he pulled out a chair for his daughter, Claire. His hands rested on her lower back and shoulder as she went to sit. They exchanged a smile as he ( Read more... )

Oh yes, this is a great start. If all parts of this story will be as good as this, we'll be in for one hell of a ride. Wonderful work, this is amazing!

Merci merci! Judging by the story descriptions and calibur of the authors, I think we're in for an excellent ride in each installment.

This was a fun read. I really liked Sylar in this one, his voice felt very real to me. I liked him talking out his logic, piece by piece.

Claire was IC too, and I liked her concern for Nathan but how she got her resolve back. I like that she does talk back to him because while scared, she doesn't crumble so easily.

I liked this, and this is a great beginning. :-)

Wow, that's excellent feedback. I try and hear the actor's voices in my head when I write a line, so to hear you say they sound in character means a bunch. Thanks!!

And, like I said above; judging by the other authors who will be writing the other chapters, we're in for a great experience. Keep looking out at sylar_claire for their installments. :)

This is an interesting beginning but... By this point, Sylar's already killed Eric Doyle and used his ability on Claire in An Invisible Thread?

Thanks for the feedback, I thought that question might be raised since its definitely a fair one. When the last episode aired, I thought Sylar had killed Doyle. But I just re-marathoned the entire 3rd season before I wrote this and there's actually no evidence of that.
Sylar's able to control people the way he controlled Claire in "An Invisible Thread" long before he sends Doyle to Danko (alive). If you look at his hand gestures when he's controlling Claire, they're the same as always when he's using TK'; small, pointed, and he's not mimicking exactly what he wants her to do, which is Doyle's power. Now, there's no proof that he didn't kill Doyle after he delivered him to Building 26, but the last time we see Doyle is when Danko is showing him to Noah, alive and sedated in the room full of specials, and Sylar makes no mention of killing him or taking his power.
Hope that helps.

Bouncing into this thread because it's something I've given some thought to. There is also the possibility that Sylar acquired Doyle's power or at least atuned his existing TK on similar lines simply on the basis of meeting Doyle when he captured him as a gift for Danko. Although Sylar probably prefers to open up people's heads, we know that he doesn't have to do this (as shown with Elle and the shapeshifter). The similarity in the way he manipulated Claire was indeed very reminiscent of Doyle (OTOH, maybe it's just that Hayden Panettiere doesn't know any other way of acting "manipulated" :)

Hmm, this is a possibility too. You're not wrong (especially about the last part), although I still see a distinction between Sylar and Doyle's hand movements.
But since it's never established that he took Doyle's powers (however that may have occurred), I'm going to go with that he didn't for the sake of the story. :)

Very engaging story and I don't even know all that much about this fandom.
