Plain and simple, my Mom and Dad are constantly reminding me that I need to make my 37.5 hours a week. It's.. well, a reminder or two over the course of a week is reasonable.. however it's not to that extent.
Where exactly are you working? I know from home, but your bedroom? living room? basement? It might be an idea to pick a place that is not the room they usually use and then inform them that your chosen room is your office during working hours. That could at least keep them out of your hair during working hours.
And that way, if you take a break to check email or day dream or do anything that normal civil servants do while sitting in a cubicle, they won't be around or watching you.
I'm sad that you're having such a difficult time right now.
Work sucks!
I'm hesitant to make any suggestion but perhaps you could post a tentative schedule for the week showing when you expect to get your hours in, or tell them what days you plan to work and ask not to be reminded (more than once per day, for example) about it. *hugs*
Certainly is motivation to move out if you ask me, but I don't know the particulars of your situation. *ducks*
Actually, some of your ideas seem quite sound. If I knew for certain I was guaranteed the nescessary hours and or I had a solid nest egg, moving out in the near future would be much more compelling but as is I need to save up a good while.
if I can be a bit more preachy... :)shyskaNovember 14 2007, 00:14:32 UTC
Saving up for first and last months' rent is tricky. I'm not certain I've *ever* had any kind of nest egg to speak of, but it is one of my goals.
I had forgotten that you're working at home (someone mentioned it above I think?). In that case I second what they said about having a separate Work Space. This can show people that you are "working now, don't bug me", and might give you somewhere to go if they rant at you about hours.
I'm confident that you can work this out. You're quite intelligent, and I'm sure you have great motivation for earning yourself some money (garb, Pennsic, for some examples). Try to keep your goals in mind when the going gets rough. Worst case scenario, you could ask if your parents would be willing to go to counseling with you. Clear and open communication are great, but are not supposed to hurt all of the time, they are supposed to help. *more hugs*

Good luck with it, what ever you do.
