I remember when this happened. There was a guy on my ship from Wyoming and he felt superior because "That's how we deal with gays in Wyoming.".

There have been gays at every command where I served in my 10 years in the military and everyone knew who they were and nobody really cared as long as they did their job. I notice that the homophobe from Wyoming didn't do anything about the gays sharing 505 feet of space with him while at sea. Not that harrassing gays would have been accepted, it wasn't even 10 a decade ago.

same here. the best NCO I ever knew is gay. you wouldn't believe how many guys came out to me - either cause they really needed SOMEONE to talk to about it and knew I didn't give a shit or cause they thought I was gay too.

seriously - don't we have more important shit to worry about?

I will never forget when I saw it on the T.V. I screamed and cried and was so bewildered. Matt and I went to High School together (at TASIS). I was horrified at what happened. Matt and I did a lot of theatre together and it was a huge blow to the TASIS community. He was just such a good person all around. The great irony in all of this was when Matt decided to go to college in Wyoming. We all would joke and say "but Matt! Why Wyoming, it's in the middle of nowhere!" Now I really wish that we hadn't been joking; that we had been genuinely concerned in his decision ( ... )
