Time for another photo post!
But on a quick, unrelated note: Travis' song 'Selfish Jean' is seriously so much fun to listen to. The lyrics are the opposite of cheery, but the music is so infectious that even while I was at work today, I couldn't keep from bouncing around in my seat while I listened to it on my iPod (bless them for allowing such a thing). And now that I'm at home, oh man. It's blasting. :D Seriously, check it out. Lisa, as I recall, you're not a a fan of Travis, but I think you'd actually really like this, too. :) I love the drums, hehehe.
++++
Going To The Shedd and The Field: Aquarium and Museum of Natural History, that is. Lisa wrote about it already, but I wanted to go ahead and post more of the pictures I got that day. Because I'm a huge geek, hahaha. Our journey begins on the #6 Jeffrey Express Bus.
Lisa got this picture after we got off the bus at the stop for the aquarium and the Field museum.
The Field Museum as we walked past it toward the Shedd.
Skyline.
More skylines, and part of one of the boat harbors.
Lots and lots of sailboats, and off in the distance, Navy Pier.
Hello, gigantic inflatable lizard!
Nickel the sea turtle.
This thing was huge. I was scurred.
And this was in the hole right next to it.
Digital zoom shot of those tiny poison arrow frogs.
A better digital zoom shot of a bright yellow one.
This guy was antsy.
Just hangin' out. ;)
Turtle.
Really freaky lookin' thing. LOL
I love the all the colors.
Starfish!
I LOVE the blues on this fish. So pretty.
Digital zoom shot of some tiny little creatures. They were maybe an inch long.
O RLY?!
I swear, it totally looks like it has a gaping mouth and bug eyes because it's looking out at the people and thinking, "OH NOES!!"
These things were HUGE.
One of the weedy sea dragons, which were incredibly hard to get pictures of, because they were behind what seemed to be magnified glass.
Two of the leafy sea dragons. They're so weird and fascinating.
Can you tell I like frogs?
The oceanarium, taken while Lisa and I were waiting for the dolphin show to start.
Digital zoom shot through one of the window panes of the oceanarium. From where I was sitting, the same spot where I took the previous picture. And I was able to get this. I effing love my camera.
Lisa!
Dolphins!
The beluga whale who kept popping his head up and chattering away at people. SO ADORABLE.
If you're interested, I also managed to get some video of it, where you can make out his chattering after he comes up the second time:
Penguins are seriously some of the funniest creatures ever.
One of the dolphins swimming past the underwater viewing area.
And then we went to the Field Museum!
Fangirling the museum steps.
Another skyline shot taken before we went into the Field. The sky looks so perfect, it almost doesn't look real.
One of the permanent exhibits at the Field is the Inside Ancient Egypt exhibit, which has always been one of my favorites. And in it, they have this really neat set of miniatures that depict the mummification process.
I've always been totally fascinated by ancient Egypt. So I totally geek out whenever I get the chance to go through this exhibit.
So that was Thusday. :) Next photo post will be about Saturday - our Wander Around Hyde Park Day, also the day the Joyce flew in from Ohio, and the day we went to the Parthenon.
Hope you're all well!
