Education, what?:  The most depressing thing I read today was a headline from this past Friday's Chicago Tribune.  Of 100 Chicago Public School Freshman, Six Will Get A College Degree.  I mean, fucking hell.  That's disgraceful.  The saddest part is, that doesn't surprise me.  The Chicago public school system has never rated very highly.  But still ( Read more... )

I think the problem with the public schools are only a start at what is really wrong with America. It is whole value system! I mean why should kids care about being smart when, in the media, the only thing that is important is what you look like, what you have, and who you do it with? Why should kids give a fuck if no one else does? Parents are too busy to give a shit about how their children are really doing, not just in school but in EVERY area of their lives. People are so interested in making money but at what real expense ( ... )

The thing with America being the global "superpower" is just that--it's GLOBAL. Getting our nose in other's people's business is where that title fits. Being a global superpower isn't about taking care of our own, it's making sure the rest of the world knows we plan on "taking care of them" aka: making countries think and function the way we do.

...I could say SO much more *L* but I'll leave it at that.

Otherwise I'll go on a tirade about classism and superiority complexes, racism and other such issues that hold back our society.
