i am so envious of anyone who lives next to a "steve and barry's" store in the states. it carries sarah jessica parker's line of clothing, and it is stylish with mind blowingly cheap prices. like, why would they even charge you money for the items, they might as well give them away for free ( Read more... )

LOL There is one like a half hour from me, but I swear I've only been there once. That line looks kindof cute though...

Oh man, as soon as I get a car I'm driving to Buffalo for some serious shopping. Those prices are... better than H&M prices!

It's nice to see a celebrity putting out a practical line of clothing that's affordable for the average person. I always hated Gwen Stefani a little for ridiculously OVERHYPED and not at all wearable line of overly expensive crap.

totally, :)

sarah j p grew up in a large family and they were really poor, so she definitely believes in providing style for a budget cause she's been there. i think that angle is far cooler than any zillion dollar line of clothing by far.

although... i have to wonder where the clothing was made, and if it was made ethically...

and ps! we get our very own H&M in August! Finally!!!

6 years ago after getting back from Switzerland, I emailed H&M and told them they HAD to come to Canada. hehe, took them a little longer than I had hoped.

Yay to the H&M! Sometimes you'll walk in and think "who the the hell wears this?!", but other times you'll find a complete steal (I love their summer dresses)!

Hey, I saw your comment in the journal of 'alogique' where you said you saw Bjork in Vancouver. Do you live there? Sorry, I'm aware of the fact that that might sound like a weird question coming from someone you don't know so I'll explain myself. I'm Lisa and I'm from the Netherlands. From august till the end of december I'll be studying in Vancouver! I've never been there so I've got no idea what it'll be like over there. I'm a big musicfreak and the other day I was thinking that it would be so cool if I could go to a concert(s) over there.
Soo my question is: are there alot of concertstages over there? Do alot of artists come to Vancouver to perform?

I'm sorry for my long story! Hope I didn't bore you ;)

cool cool! well i hope that you like the rain. :P but i guess you would get some of that in the Netherlands ;) we do have palm trees though! that may be surprising.

yes i live here in Vancouver, and YES- there are hundreds of amazing bands that come through here every year!

here is a link to the web version of a weekly entertainment paper that comes out, the link leads you to this week's music section and lists reviews from last week as well as upcoming shows. if you keep going back to the main page, you can keep up to date every week on what bands will soon be coming. :) http://www.straight.com/issue/2061/section/2

what are you studying by the way? :)

Well it's raining all the time at the moment here, so yea I'm kinda used to it. But I'm actually a little confused about which kind of weather I should expect. My uncle went to Canada once and he's telling me all the time that I need to make sure to pack alot of warm clothing because he says it can be like -40 degrees over there! But from what I've been reading the weather should be alot like here in the winter (not much colder then like about -5 degrees). Hmm.

And thanks for the link!! Whoo I see that the White Stripes and the Veils are coming next week, that sounds promising!

I'm studying Psychology. What about you? :)

Well Canada is so big that the temperature is going to change very much from one side to the other, and also from the top to the bottom! Vancouver is one of the more temperate (mild temperature) places in Canada, and yes it can get cold in the winter (maybe -5 degrees) but it rarely snows and like I mentioned, we have palm trees, so it can't be that bad! :D Only if you go next door to Alberta, will you need the clothing for -40 degree weather. ;) the city and the ocean and the mountains together are all quite beautiful. make sure when you come you try to rent a place in Kitsilano or Point Grey or up by the university (UBC) because it's the nicest part (right by the beach), and it's also only a 20 min. bus ride to downtown. plus there are a lot of shops and small restaurants around, it's quite nice. :)

I studied Interior Design- and I just graduated from 4 years of school! I feel so free! :D

Well, keep in touch with me then, and then at least you will know someone when you come to Vancouver. :D This is me, *waves*:
