So this is as good a day as any to announce this
We're having a contest!
This year will be the tenth anniversary of the original release of Revelation: Lugia, so hey, might as well do something for that.
It came out July 17th, 1999, and since WWC's second anniversary is just ten days before that, your deadline is July 7th, 2009.
But what do you submit? Well, we all (or most of us anyway) love fanfics, so your task is to write a fic. About Jirarudan obviously, and here's the stickler--it has to take place during the movie. Bear in mind that there's some time between his last scene where he finds the card on the shore and the actual last scene in the film (when the Rockets climb up on the shrine and talk to Slowking, which is some time the next day).
No length requirement--write half a page or a hundred pages. However, if you write more than ten pages, I ask that you get them in before June 13th so we all have a chance to read it (it's my birthday so it's easy for me to remember).
You can submit multipart stories, but you have to have the finished story in before the deadline. As far as length affects that, the ten pages would be per part, so if your last part is three pages you can submit it by July 7th even if the total length is longer than ten.
You can enter with up to three stories, but they have to be about different scenes. Additionally, if you co-write something, it counts as one submission per person. Yes, you CAN co-write with someone who isn't a member of the comm. If you co-write though, bear in mind there's only one top prize, so decide in advance who'll get it--the mods of WWC (by which I mean me) cannot be held accountable for things like that.
And of course where would a comm like this be without material goods? Top prize is the movie 2 Coro Coro adaptation--that's right, winner gets NotJiri! Any successive prizes depend on the number of entries. I think more than five will get us a second place option, more than eight will afford us three prizes.
So to recap:
-Fics about Jirarudan
-Must take place during the movie, but can be any time therein (even parts that don't canonically show him)
-Fics can be multipart; length for final submission is dependent on that individual part
-Up to three submissions a person; co-written works count as one each
-Each submission by the same person must be about different scenes
-One top prize, any other prizes are dependent on the number of entries
-Deadline is July 7th, deadline for posts of more than 10 pages is June 13th. Voting will go up on July 7th at 10 pm Pacific time so all entries have to be in before that time. Voting will end on July 17th and winners will be announced hopefully that day.
-Top prize is the Coro Coro movie adaptation. If you win and you feel you would be unable to receive this through mail (given that I've had issues mailing things to people in some countries), tell me and we'll work something out.
So get writing!
