Season 2 Rewatch and Review: Time Will Tell

Jun 26, 2011 07:15

Hello all! I decided that to help keep myself ready for Season 3 of Warehouse 13 (and to keep myself from going insane until that time) I would rewatch all of Season 2. And then I thought...well, you have a lot of thoughts on this season, why not write them down for the good people of the Warehouse 13 LJ comm. Because everyone wants to hear my ( Read more... )

Thinking of doing a S2 rewatch myself when my DVDs finally arrive. Anyway, if anyone was off their game I'd say it was Pete, more so than Myka. Pete is like an onion, he's much more complex than he appears, which is part of the reason why I think so many write him off as a nitwit, when in fact he's proven to also be quite introspective. He's also quite a flirt, H.G. used that to her advantage when she met him, as it's pretty clear that he's really feeling lonely as far as female companionship goes this season. Myka, was a little more on her game if you ask me since MacPherson went after her family, and because of that she was royally PO'd and I think even more so by the havoc he was creating ( ... )

Yeah, Pete was more off of his game in this ep. Myka was only off when she and Pete got themselves glued to the ceiling. It was pretty much "So you don't want us to flip this switch, H.G.? Ok, let's do it!"

But yeah, I agree with you that this episode doesn't define Pete's personality, I actually found it a tiny bit OC when he tried to arrest the H.G. actor. But then again, it was the first ep. back so maybe the writers' were coming off the hiatus and trying to make him extra funny.

It was a great season opener, and I hope the next season opener is just as good. The Pilot is a great episode too (I still love it when Pete and Myka meet Artie and tour the Warehouse for the first time).

yeeeeah, something that occurred to me on a rewatch of MacPherson was that if Joshua had successfully worked out all the kinks to the compass the first time, MacNuttypants probably would've been all 'I'll take that, thanks for doing all the work for me!'

I do agree that more screen time for Leena would be awesome (and I hope she gets more in S3!), and that some explanation of where she disappeared to would've been great. But I can't blame the writers for not working her pregnancy in, as that would imply MacPherson had likely raped her (with the Pearl, she was in no shape to give informed consent), and that's a kettle of fish I'm perfectly happy not having to deal with.

(I never got the impression that Carol and MacPherson were married, though, just Involved. But then I ship Artie/MacPherson, so. XD)

I hope Leena gets more screen time in S3, too, and I think the show was supposed to imply that she was busy with her trident drawing throughout all of Season 2. So how many of those things did she draw? (And I'm glad they didn't try to work her pregnancy into the show, either. It would have been too dark to imply MacP had raped her).

I thought Carol and MacP were married, huh, maybe I just assumed it. Either way, I don't like MacP and I think Carol's a witch. I mean, who turns down sweet Artie for a psycho like MacP A witch, that's who.

Still, she must've done *something* in between drawing all those tridents.

In Carol's defense, she had a point in Implosion - Artie's very, very bad at having a life outside of his work. Yes, it's been a while since he had to make time for that, but he's not a natural at making the effort. She got sandwiched in a bad situation and made what she thought was the best choice. I agree that it's still a bad choice, but.

Well, I guess she had to eat and sleep. ;)

My problem is that Carol still stuck by MacP after all these years. She acted like the Warehouse agents were the bad guys in "MacPherson". She couldn't open her eyes and see that he was a monster.

I haven't rewathced for a bit (but will when my DVDs get here this week) But I do like this as a season opener.

One of my favorite scenes ever is Claudia and Artie in the alleyway, the banter, the depth of their trust and caring for each other, the "That wasn't your hand," "No it wasn't" adore the two of them. I'd watch a whole show of them ust bantering.

I like the intro to HG, though I would have liked to see MacPherson stick around more (I know, the actor had other commitments)

And Mrs. F is such a bad ass, the whole scene with Leena is amazing.

Can't WAIT for 7/11!

I love that alleyway scene, simply because of all the trust that Artie has in her. Even though there was hardcore evidence, the minute he saw her he didn't think of her as a threat. She's got him wrapped around her finger.

The intro to H.G. is great, but I'm still angry too that MacP had to leave so early. Forgot those other commitments! This is Warehouse 13! ;)

Mrs. F choking Leena is still one of them most shocking scenes of the entire show. I still laugh at Mrs. F's reaction to it, though: "Yeah, sorry about that."

I gotta say that my thoughts for the season opener are pretty much the same...and like others who've commented, I'm waiting on the DVD's for a re-viewing. But yeah, LOVED the season opener. Loved the alley scene with Artie and Claudia, loved the intro to H.G....

The one issue I have is that H.G. Wells impersonator (sp?) scene. I mean, c'mon...Pete's not the brightest bulb...but seriously? Assuming that H.G. would sit and talk to a group of tourists, out in the open like that while on a mission with MacPherson? :/

Aside from that, awesome episode. I actually liked this one more than the pilot. (In my opinion, the pilot was a little long. But I suppose that's necessary. It i pilot after all.)

Parting sidenote: MacPherson's plan was extremely complicated. I'm still confused, actually.

Pete attacking fake H.G. made me pause, too, because Pete is normally smarter than that. That's why I brought it up here, because I think the writers of the show were just getting back into the swing of things when it came to writing for the characters.

The pilot was too long, but it was necessary, because one hour was devoted to the agents getting to the Warehouse and the other to the case. My fav. part is the first hour. (I'm still confused by the motives of the lady with the comb in the first ep.)

MacPherson must have had huge sheets with notes and charts to keep his plan in order.

Yep, yep...Pete's lapse in smarts was puzzling...but kind of funny, anyway. I like that he had the decency to give Walter back his 'stache. :D

As for the pilot: Agreed. Lengthy, but they had a whole Warehouse to introduce us to...lots of exposition and such. As for the lady with the comb? That was just...kind of creepy? The word 'cougar' immediately comes to mind. But, you know, that could've been the comb talking. *shrugs*

Nothing more frightning than an organized villain.

Yeah, the villain in the pilot was creepy. I wasn't sure if she had a crush on the kid in real life, or if it was the comb. The Warehouse 13 pilot's case was confusing, and I've still never figured out what the lady's deal was.

Except a heartless villain, which, you know, MacPherson was. So he's very frightening. ;)

Hey, thanks for starting this discussion. Upon rewatching this episode, I noticed 2 things I'd missed before, one of them minor.

Minor thing: when Myka's looking through HG's papers, she makes some comment about people being neanderthals. Later on, when they have HG handcuffed to the chair, HG makes a similar comment. Kinda made me wonder if HG heard Myka or if it was coincidence.

Bigger thing; maybe this has been discussed before, I don't know but... did anyone look closely at the compact HG has on the table in one of the last scenes? It looks very much like the Lizzy Borden compact used in Reset. Hmmm...

I think H.G. and Myka were simply thinking along the same lines, showing already how similar they were and how close they could (and would) become in later eps.

Lizzy Borden's compact? Dang, I missed that. I need to go back and check that again...

It does look similar but it's not supposed to be the same one, Jack Kenney said that in one of the podcasts... :)

But I agree I wish it had been part of the master plan.
