I sit around in Orgrimmar not doing much a lot, so I get to randomly sample the on-going RP there just by listening. Sometimes it's interesting, sometimes it's not, sometimes it's just...weird ( Read more... )

Well....at least it's uh, unique. I've never seen a concept like that.

Indeed. It is unique.

I am not sure what else there is to say about it.

A-side there was the "Stormwind Orphan" guild populated entirely by gnomes RPing as human children.

Things that make you go "bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbuhhhhh".

I dunno man. I can squint and turn my head and go "yeah, I could deal with that", but people RPing children (both in WoW and outside of it) rarely ever goes or ends well. I don't personally enjoy children being depicted in a war or other harsh setting, because it's in my experience never handled well. (And I know that in reality were anything horrific ever to happen, all of the children wouldn't magically poof away to a happy place.) It just seems like when kids are placed in a violent setting it's for pure shock factor and little literary value. It's sorta why I grumble a bit when I read The Walking Dead comic. (Not only because of what Carl is subjected to - who is 7 in the books - but because Kirkman writes a good story, yes, but he's one of those authors like Stephen King who horribly murders characters just for being likable.)

I can't

really handle that very well because one, roleplaying young children in a war zone and two, adult gnomes are pretty highly sexualized in their /dances and /emotes and that's just

augh

I confess to playing a pair of fourteen-year-olds (a worgen hunter and a blood elf paladin), but that's as low as I'll go. The hunter is because I wanted to avoid the ANGST and HORROR--she mostly explores, tames animals, and stays out of the way of the main WAR WAR WAR KILL TERROR thread of the game--by playing someone who's just out there to see the world (she even managed to avoid getting baked by Deathwing); the paladin is an unusual case and a lot of tl;dr, l-lol.

This guy though is...well, literally a toy. I'm...I just don't even know what to say to that. I think a friend summarized it best with, "I liked Toy Story, too, but I don't put it in my WoW."

My worgen's also young-ish, probably around 18. Farmer's daughter who spent her entire life mending fences and milking cows and all that crap. The in-game events happen and suddenly she's defending her parents and siblings from wolf men with her father's old rusty shield and sword from his Third War days, and now, hey presto, no more farm. Also, no more plain Jane country bumpkin, no sir! Now she gets to be all tall and imposing and won't ever have to frown about her flat butt or freckles agaaaaain~

tl;dr I got into an instance one day on my night elf hunter and our tank was a female worgen prot warrior and I went *_* and almost immediately went to the character creation screen because amg they look so damn cool fighting.

And tbh, I actually misread the first part of your OP and missed that HE WAS PLAYING A TOY. Holy shit that changes my entire comment's context but still what is this I don't even.

AWW. I will admit I am a total sucker for that kind of story; Cinquefoil (my hunter) is not all that different, though since she's younger and her family bred fur animals (specifically, foxes) she ended up going the hunter route.

AND YES THEY DO. I really hate that the rest of the female worgen model looks pasteded on in a lot of areas, because their fight animations are so lovely.

Interesting, interesting. I knew this day would come. Since there seems to be some misunderstandings about my character, I'll clarify it up. "Plastorc" is the IC name, yes, his character name is Garkor. The character is not playing a child. He's not a miniature adult. He's, quite literally, a toy. I'll go into a bit more detail a few paragraphs down ( ... )

I honestly cannot say it changes my opinion one way or another. I've rolled, played, and kept crack concept characters myself. I am sure there are people who disagree with me (at length) on whether or not they fit into lore, but my intent with continuing to play them is my own amusement. If people wanna wrassle with me over a point of my headcanon (or even just discuss it), I'm more than happy to talk out a crack concept at critthisflag, but you seem very pleased with what you've done and my call-out was more "hey this is really strange," so there's not much for discussion.
