I never understood the whole "paladins and priests of the Light must remain chaste" thing that a lot of people RP when there are a lot of pretty clear examples in lore of paladins and priests getting married.
I think they just do it as a cheap way to cause sexual tension.
Yeah. I mean, aside from the married lore characters, think about it this way.
Anduin Wrynn is going to be the next king of Stormwind. Kings need to produce heirs to continue the monarchy. Chastity prevents the production of heirs. Anduin seems to be well on his way to becoming a Priest.
Do you really think any member of Stormwind's leadership would agree with his becoming a Priest if clergy of the Light had to be chaste?
You also need to see Sirithil's RSP. Speshul snowflake syndrome. I keep meaning to post it here - but somehow, I always forget. However, I think the Wiki is so much better than the flag.
Also, Seven? Played by a dude - exactly why it thinks being all "innocent" and "cutesie" is, well, a good character concept. Because obviously, all women are weak and innocent. idk.
I recall some blue hooey about paladins and priests don't need to believe in the Light, their powers are technically tied into the strength of their faith of whatever it is they believed in. This explains Forsaken priesties and such as I recall.
Also, Gospel Lightfaith has got to be the BEST paladin name EVER. I'm going to rename my warrior to Swords Hammersmash and my rogue to Poison Stabshadow.
As far as purity goes, I would expect it would apply to the paladin order much like the Jedi. Being unchaste, forming relationships, etc, forms unhealthy attachments that can lead to the Dark Side? No? Well, priests are supposed to sacrifice such earthly pleasure as a sign of complete devotion to their deity. I think we can all agree though that in Warcraft, its not expected. After all, the most powerful paladin of all time regularly gave the ol' Hammer of Justice to his elven girlfriend. On the other hand, chastity, as well as other penitant sacrifices, was probably a path frequently chosen by followers of the Light to better focus on...
The general mission of the church is stated, as well as its three virtues. Nothing about those hints at the church requiring chastity from anyone. If anything, it suggests that older members may get more studious and less hands-on, which I suspect would happen to anyone if their back went out.
Deathy thinks you're right about the "not needing to believe", but what he vaguely recalls is that it's less about believing in it and more forcing it to obey - Forsaken priests still use the Light, and it feels like being burned by holy fire, if memory serves.
Also, Gospel Lightfaith is a perfectly good, if a bit silly, name for a paladin. Except for when the paladin doesn't believe in the light. What, then, does she have faith in?

It's probably bad that I pictured these being a bunch of tooth retainers, like clattering teeth, just following her around and chattering.
...yeah, I've been up nearly 24 hours, so sue me.

As for Ms. Gospel's scar. You mean you don't have a fist-sized pulsating mass where your shoulder should be? Also:
Deathy says: Gospelina Katja-Syranelle uth Kestrodullin.
Dakoura says: Gesundheit! Tissue? *Offers box of Kleenex*
