Here's hoping for Ai-chan

Feb 09, 2008 15:19

I think I was talking with arlecchinic about making a chart like this. To put perspective on how likely it is that Ai-chan still has a shot at top stardom.

Semi-long comparison chart. )

fuzuki miyo, ayano kanami, emi kurara, hoshina yuri, shijou rui, hanagumi, sen hosachi, hanafusa mari, toono asuka, shirosaki ai, maya miki, tsukikage hitomi, sakurano ayane, nagisa aki, maikaze rira, kazahana mai, iori naoka, dan rei, shirahane yuri, konno mahiru, aika mire, hizuki hana

But look how well the ken-8/9s turn out.

...? That's what I mean. That because plenty of other ken-8/9s got there, so will Ai-chan. :)

Gosh, poor tiny Emi Kurara. What huge pressure for a ken-3. She was so talented.

I'm still ambivalent about Ai become top right away; I'd so much rather she become top with Kiriyan. She definitely deserves her shot, but... with Asako? I dunno, I just have unnerving visions of the kind of awkward completely chemistry-less relationship that, say, Tom and O-Hana had.

But hey, who knows. Maybe they'd shock us completely by being the hottest couple ever.

For the whole one show they did together. ;) This could be exactly like Tom & Hana, the way everyone talks about Asa retiring soon too...

O-Hana was a ken-3 as well. :) Or thereabouts. I didn't list her because I wasn't entirely sure, without the Wiki... *fails for once at encyclopedic knowledge of Soragumi*

Anyway, about Ai-chan. If they promote someone else instead of her, I hope Asako stays a while and that someone else gets a good shot in the spotlight. Then they'll retire together and Kiriyan and Ai-chan will finally take their rightful positions as the next Tsukigumi top combi of love. :)

Hana became top of Yukigumi in the spring of 1994 (I forget which month exactly, but I'm sure I could look it up if need be).

One correction - I'm fairly certain that Sen Hosachi was a ken 3 or thereabouts when she became top (Would have been 1996; She retired in 1998)

Junna Risa was a ken-6 when she became top (debuted in 1990, top in 95, retired in late 96 ;_;)

Lets see, who else do I know off the top of my head....

Oh! Asano Kayo, who was another one of those anomalies. Debuted 1988, top star in 1991 (actually, I think it was TECHNICALLY the end of 1990). And she was top for both Kaname AND Yuri

I'll have to double check later, but I'm pretty sure that Kodama Ai was ken-6 when she became top (1985 or 1986. I forget which year she and Tsurugi Miyuki became top together)

Oh yeah! you missed Tsukikage Hitomi. Gun-chan was hoshi top for like one show with Mariko in 1997 before transferring over to replace Hana as yuki top. I'm pretty sure she was a ken-8 also. (I swear... what the heck was in the water in 1990 and 1991?!)

I'm not positive about Shiraki Ayaka, but I THINK she was ken-5

<3 I hope very much Ai-chan is one of those who makes it to top. And for another ken-9, we have Ruirui (debut: March or April 1997, made top July 2006). Really no reason to give up hope yet!

(And seriously, trying to figure those dates out from memory? Not fun. Need the TakaWiki, now).

Argh. Jenn, I am mortified that I missed Rui. Please forgive me; she's added now. m(__)m

Edit: But hey, does my post sound like I'm saying the evidence points against Ai-chan making top? Because my intention was the opposite...

I think there's a perfectly good chance that Ai-chan will get it, especially considering that she's had plenty of large roles at this point and has proven she can handle it. That and Ayane-chan would still be the only top musumeyaku who debuted earlier than her, given that otherwise you have two 84ths and another 86th. And look at Asuka! There was plenty of talk that she had missed her chance and she's doing so fantastically with Touko now, I could hardly imagine someone I'd rather have either of them paired with.

There's hardly any reason to think she's over the hill or has all ready been passed over, and I think she'd be a /gorgeous/ Daisy in Gatsby.

I couldn't agree more. ^_____^

"Over the hill" - of course not, but "passed over"... I guess I'm just a worrywart. But I made this list to convince myself that hope was not lost! I believe in you, Ai-chan!!

Hope is far, far from lost. *is excitedly waiting for the announcement*
