Hey, I didn't know any of that until you told me. Thanks. :D
But you know, I think casting might not have anything to do with Ami; the level of vitriol poured against, say, poor Aihara Mika and Fuzuki Miyo was astonishing and didn't stop them from being top. Rather, like you said, Mimi is obviously being treated as most senior so she had to get one. So for the other, maybe Ami and Ayucchi are just going to alternate roles? Ayuuchi got one, then Ami got this latest one at the daigekijou, so now Ayucchi gets one and Ami will get the next one. It's just a theory, but it wouldn't surprise me.
I don't think you can compare this situation to any official top musumeyaku, though. As, ahem, certain recent blog posts have reinforced, no amount of fan outcry will change official decisions like that.
This, however, is a fluid state where it makes less sense to "alternate" and more sense to cast based on suitability & talent.
And Mimi isn't senior to Ayucchi, she's just the most promoted one >.>
That's exactly what I meant to say, yes (that is: the vitriol against Mika and Fuu-chan didn't stop them from being top, so it won't hurt Ami's chances either). No fan outcry is going to get Ami knocked out, so maybe she's just not in a top role this time around because it's Ayucchi's turn to get a top role. I'll grant you it makes more sense to assign based on talent, but...well, Hankyuu doesn't always do the sensible thing.
I know Mimi isn't senior. I wrote: "Mimi is obviously being TREATED as most senior." I was agreeing with you, and pointing out that if there were two roles and Mimi is being treated as senior--or most promoted, if you like--then maybe she's guaranteed leads when Ami and Ayucchi aren't.
But again, it's just theories on my part. Who knows?
