Oh man, when I lived in Oxford, I had this t-shirt I would wear from when we hooked my elementary school up to the internet (IT WAS A BIG DEAL) that said "I make the connections." THE HOMELESS PEOPLE OF OXFORD FELT THIS MEANT I HAD DRUGS. It was super awkward. I was twelve.

Lots of the hobos here have the crazy, though.

ALSO HEADPHONES. Don't even plug them in/turn on the thing they are plugged into, because then the hobo ninjas sneak up on you. But as soon as anyone talks to you, just point to the headphones, shrug, and continue walking. MAGIC.

I ALWAYS WEAR HEADPHONES ANYWAY, BECAUSE I LISTEN TO MUSIC NONSTOP. Or earphones, at least. Maybe that's the problem, maybe they're not big enough.

And anyway, that still doesn't solve the People Will Potentially Talk To Me thing. Even if I just shrug and point at my ears, I HAVE STILL BEEN TALKED TO LIZ, DON'T YOU SEE!!!!

ARE YOU SAYING THIS IN A 'YES TONY COULD CONCEIVABLY KNOW OF CHESS-BOXING' WAY OR A 'TONY COULD STAND A CHANCE AGAINST HIS TEAMMATES' WAY? Because I say yes to the former and no to the latter.

Well, Bruce. I'm sure Tony could win in a boxing match against Bruce. And Bruce is probably a good enough sportsman to not turn into the Hulk when he loses. Hooray for Bruce!

WHAT IF HE IS CHESS-BOXING AGAINST PEOPLE OTHER THAN HIS TEAMMATES THOUGH. WHAT IF THEY ALL GO OUT AND CHESS-BOX AGAINST SIBERIANS? IT COULD HAPPEN.

(Also, Bruce has moves of his own; he might be able to beat Tony. Tony might not be as good a sportsman about it. HE LETS THEM LIVE IN HIS TOWER AND THEN THEY ALL BEAT HIM AT CHESS-BOXING. SO RUDE.)

I have the same problem re: waiting for substance to post on LJ :\ Between random crap on Tumblr and quick updates/convos on Twitter, I've come to realize how little there is to really talk about on LJ. MY LIFE IS BORING bleh.

I always feel bad for avoiding/ignoring homeless people, but having grown up in major cities has taught me to just keep my head down and live in a little bubble. Seconding the suggestion to keep yourself plugged in so people think you can't hear them :P

OMG SERIOUSLY. I had never seen homeless people before I went to Oxford, ever, and I grew up in a Deprived Area of the North (TM).

SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY. Even when I was in Cornwall, which is one of the poorest counties in the country?? A few regular Big Issue sellers, but that was it. Admittedly I was in one of the richer parts of Cornwall, courtesy of All Us Students bringing in the income, but STILL. What is going on, Oxford.
