Dean's lying on his back, staring up at the ceiling of the tonight's motel. He figures he'll remember what that ceiling looks like for the rest of time because Sam's head is tucked under his collarbone and he's breathing slowly against Dean's side, one arm slung over Dean's abdomen, fast asleep.

Dean looks down at Sam and runs his fingers through his stupid, girlish hair. Dean can practically feel the warmth of Sam's soul radiating under his fingers. He trails his hand down to the base of Sam' neck, down over his back, up his hip and side, along his shoulder and then cups Sam's jaw and kisses his temple.

Sam sighs softly in his sleep, undisturbed, choosing to cuddle himself closer to Dean like a four-year-old.

Dean grins and looks back at the ceiling.
